The Emiliusschool is a school for special education to multiple handicapped children aged 4 to 20.

The Emiliusschool is one of the schools in the Netherlands, which provides special education to multiple handicapped children aged 4 to 20. The pupils are physically handicapped and are functioning on a low educational level. The goal of the school is, in close cooperation with Zonhove, to bring the pupils to a degree of independence as great as possible. Independence which allows the children to function in a society, on a for her or him acceptable level, trying to increase the feeling of self-respect. Our education emphasizes on creating an education- and coaching-atmosphere where the pupils can develop themselves and where they can feel comfortable.

According to this vision we try to create, besides a sensible group approach, an Individual specified approach as well. That is why the pupils are placed !fl classical groups where we try to create an atmosphere in which we can work at the pupils' individual level of func­tioning at social, emotional, mentally and physical areas.

Besides the children who live at the Institute Zonhove, we also admit children from a wide area. The Emiliusschool has 22 classes with about 7 children per class.
